What is CBD?

  •  CBD stands for cannabidiol - one of over 100 naturally occurring cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant

    • Cannabinoid- a type of molecule found in the cannabis plant, reacts with the endocannabinoid system in your body

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Has zero psychoactive effects - meaning you cannot get high from using CBD

 

Is CBD legal? 

  • Yes hemp/cbd is federally legal. It was made legal in 2018 when the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (now the "2018 Farm Bill") was signed.

    • Made hemp/hemp derived products containing less than 0.3% THC (such as CBD) legal by removing from the Controlled Substance Act

Hemp vs. Marijuana

  • Hemp and marijuana are two varieties of the cannabis plant

  • Main difference is the amount of THC and CBD each plant produces:

    • Marijuana can contain up to 30% THC

    • Hemp contains no more than 0.3% THC

  • Hemp is non-psychoactive while marijuana is psychoactive

Types of CBD

  • The main difference between the different types  of CBD is how it is extracted from the plant and what other parts of the plant is also extracted

  • The different types of CBD allows for a wide variety of products and allows for each product to be better customized to every individual

  • Full Spectrum CBD

    • CBD extracted from the Cannabis Sativa L. plant with ALL compounds from the plant (including THC- 0.3% or less, terpenes, essential oils and other cannabinoids)

    • Contains less than the legal limit of THC (0.3% or less)

  • Broad Spectrum CBD

    • CBD that has been extracted from the Cannabis Sativa L. plant with all compounds from the plant except THC (terpenes, essential oils, other cannabinoids)

    • Contains no THC

  • Isolate based CBD

    • The purest form of CBD

    • CBD that is isolated from other parts of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant - contains no other cannabinoids, terpenes, or essential oils

    • Contains no THC

Typical Uses of CBD

  • There are many benefits of CBD due to the fact that every individual has an endocannibinoid system

    • The endocannabinoid system in most basic terms controls how we move, feel, and react
